In this article, the authors assess Indigenous workforce policies and strategies from two Australian health services considered high performing in terms of their ability to recruit and retain Indigenous staff. The article highlights the importance of strong corporate leadership, commitment to inclusive and enabling culture, facilitation of two-way learning, and development of specific support structures to building a strong Indigenous health workforce, improving cultural safety, and improving patient outcomes.
